TALL MARK’S EAT IT ANYWAY (VANCOUVER FRINGE)

by | Sep 11, 2026 | Review | 0 comments

You know those shows where you check your watch after what feels like forever and only five minutes have passed? Tall Mark’s EAT IT ANYWAY is one of those.

Tall Mark sings “comic” songs that aren’t actually funny, then asks if we’ve understood the messages in them. That message — there’s only one, really — is always some variation on “Eat it anyway” interpreted as “Listen to other people” or “Be nice, including to yourself.” Fair enough, but brother, don’t bore me then preach at me.

Bits of singalong roused me momentarily, and a throughline about Tall Mark’s experience of a chronic condition adds a thin layer of substance.

Tall Mark plays several stringed instruments, but his performance mostly relies on making a big deal about acting goofy. This makes him look like a kindergarten teacher who’s trying too hard.

EAT IT ANYWAY is silliness without delight.

Remaining performances: September 11 (9:20 p.m.), 13 (5:20 p.m.), 14 (7:00 p.m.), and 19 (9:45 p.m.) Tickets and information.
